With many students attending their graduation ceremonies this week we’d like to say kudos to the Landscape Architect students. Well done to all of you who are graduating this year and Godspeed on the journey ahead.
Mario Graziani, co-director of Stonecast, lectures the UCT Landscape Architect masters students annually on concrete and its properties. Landscape Architecture is the art and practice of designing the outdoor environment, especially designing parks or gardens to harmonize with buildings and roads. Understanding the processes and qualities of concrete is obviously an important aspect of being able to execute designs with this material. Mario’s lectures explore the applications, finishes and aesthetics of concrete in order to equip the students with this knowledge. Along with defining the limitations of the material, Mario encourages students to push the limits in order to realize creative solutions and remain on the cutting edge of innovation in this field.
